Strengthened Through Fasting

“Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.” – 1 Corinthians 9:26–27 NKJV

Reflection
The battle between flesh and spirit is constant, and fasting equips us for victory. While food is often the focus, fasting can include anything the flesh craves—media, habits, or harmful patterns. By denying ourselves, we allow the Spirit to lead. Each act of surrender weakens the pull of temptation and strengthens our reliance on God. Spirit-led fasting not only disciplines us but draws us deeper into intimacy with Him.

Application
  • Seek God’s guidance on what to fast.
  • Surrender fleshly cravings to the Lord.
  • Trust His Spirit to strengthen and empower you.

Connection
Thank You, Lord, for the discipline of fasting. Help me to yield my desires to You and walk in the power of Your Spirit. Strengthen me to live in victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
