Do We Act Hastily?

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily.’ - Is. 28:16

Do we act hastily? When we say yes too quickly to someone’s request just to please them, without knowing if it pleases the Lord, it can lead to unforeseen consequences. If, during a business transaction, we are pressured to decide immediately or risk losing a deal, it likely isn't God's best for us.

We put ourselves in a difficult position when we must respond hastily, under pressure, without time to seek the Lord’s will. We need to ask the Lord for His wisdom, even if we have only a brief moment. God will honor our desire to know His will. People should respect our request to be led by God, even if they don't understand it.

Sometimes, the Spirit of the Lord comes upon us suddenly, prompting us to act or speak without time to think. That is His doing, as He purposely bypasses our reasoning to fulfill His purpose. This is different from the decisions we make intentionally. Let's allow the peace of God to guide us, moving slowly and thoughtfully, not hastily, from glory to glory!
