All Things Anew

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” – 2 Cor. 5:17
When we take the same route to a park, home, job, or any destination repeatedly, we often lose our sense of amazement. We stop noticing the beautiful trees, the flowers, the way the sun shines on specific areas, or how the streets look. Familiarity dulls our senses, and what once brought us joy becomes invisible. Does the familiar become so expected that we lose excitement?
This can happen with people too. We might no longer notice our mate’s good looks or appreciate a friend’s qualities that once stood out. The rise of electronics and digital engagement can further cause us to become so absorbed in the virtual world that we overlook the real world around us.
As we acknowledge the Lord in all our ways, His Spirit brings a sense of freshness into our lives. He leads us to appreciate all things anew and not take them for granted. He makes familiar things exciting again. He may not always introduce new things, but He renews our perception of all things. With gratitude, we intentionally pay attention to our surroundings. As we walk in love, we experience a continual sense of newness, from glory to glory!
