Do We Value Our Lives?
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. - 1 John 4:11
In order to flourish in our divine identity, we need to be respected, appreciated, and valued. As we receive this from God Himself, we overcome rejection, overlook offenses, and attain fulfillment. Everything that comes from God is to be appreciated, including other members of the body. Not only do we value our lives but also the lives of people God has brought into our lives for a divine purpose.
As we value who we are, we value what we have. There are some things we might not treasure because they appear to be insignificant. We don't see the entire picture, so the minor parts do not seem valuable. We may also give some things more importance than necessary. Our priorities might not be in the proper order. Knowing the value we have in God often changes our outlook on things.
As we believe and receive the love of God, we comprehend our worth in Him with more clarity. We can then love Him, others, and ourselves. Our appreciation of people increases as we recognize their lives are priceless. We are to treasure the gifts we are to one another, and above all, treasure Jesus, the giver of gifts, from glory to glory!
