We Do Not Wrestle Against Flesh and Blood

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. - Eph. 6:12.
We must always remember that we are engaged in a spiritual battle, not a natural one. If we forget this, we might waste time battling people or situations in the flesh, rather than addressing the real spiritual forces at work. Key things to watch for are the timing and intensity of a battle.
When something that usually doesn’t affect us suddenly becomes a challenge, we need to be quick to recognize it as a spiritual attack and come against it. The timing of these attacks often makes no sense—unexpected heaviness, depression, or oppression seem to come out of nowhere. The impact is startling, catching us off guard. Sometimes, it feels like there’s no time to connect with the Lord, and unexpected people or situations become involved.
Besides the timing, the intensity of a battle is a clear warning of spiritual warfare. It feels out of the ordinary and overwhelms us from every side. While it’s normal to have occasional low moments, when every moment feels oppressive or every trigger evokes a strong emotional reaction, we must recognize it as the enemy at work. The adversary amplifies our challenges to distort our perspective and cause despair.
Let’s remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood. In the name of Jesus, we rebuke any spirit that is not from God. Then, we can rest in His peace, trust in His protection, and walk in victory, from glory to glory!
