Should Such A Man As I Flee?

And I said, “Should such a man as I flee? And who is there such as I who would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in!” - Neh. 6:11.

Nehemiah received a so-called prophetic word urging him to flee and seek refuge in the temple, a message that contradicted the courage and resilience God was building in him to complete the wall. His enemies had tried every tactic—mockery, threats, rumors, conspiracies—and now, as a last resort, they used a lying prophet. We must recognize the crafty tactics of our adversary.

Nehemiah understood that entering the temple was forbidden by law since he wasn’t a priest. Even though the message suggested his life was at risk, he was committed to obeying God and would not flee. His past experiences had fortified his resolve. Similarly, the Holy Spirit empowers us to be fearless and reject intimidation.

When we encounter words that contradict God’s direction, let us declare with confidence, “I will not flee.” We hold firmly to what we know God has called us to do, unwavering in our pursuit. With humility, let’s keep our hearts open to God’s Word and His guiding voice, seeking confirmation and assurance at each step. With a willing heart to obey, we stand immovable,  from glory go glory!
