Guarded by God's Peace

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." – Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

We set a firewall on a computer for security, monitoring incoming and outgoing traffic. Its purpose is to form a barrier between the internal network and external threats, blocking malicious traffic like viruses and hackers. Similarly, the peace of God is like a firewall over our hearts and minds—a powerful guard!

This divine peace protects us from intruders like fear, doubt, worry, and condemnation. It keeps thoughts of inadequacy, insecurity, and inferiority at bay, even though we cannot comprehend how it works. God’s peace strengthens us to stand by faith in trials and helps us expect His intervention. It guards our emotions from taking control, allowing us to be still and know that He is God.

To establish this peace, we make our requests known to God, release them into His hands, and trust Him with the results. With a heart of thanksgiving, we rest, knowing we—and all that belongs to us—are in His expert, caring, and healing hands. We pray for the Spirit of God to delete the “cookies” of our negative thoughts and the “history” of past fears. As we trust in Him, we discover His protection through every threat and abide in His love—from glory to glory!

Lord, thank You for Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Guard our hearts and minds as we release our cares to You. Delete the thoughts that don’t align with Your Word and help us rest in Your love. We trust You with all things, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
