How Do We Respond to God's Word?

Then Mary said, 'Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.' And the angel departed from her. - Luke 1:38 NKJV

How we respond to God's Word reveals our faith in Him. Luke’s account of Zecharias and Mary shows two contrasting responses to the angel Gabriel. Zecharias doubted Gabriel’s words, fixating on his age and limitations. Mary, however, trusted the message, marveling at how it could happen rather than questioning its truth.

We often struggle to believe God’s promises for our lives, thinking they’re impossible, or just for others. Faith starts with surrender, trusting God’s will above our own desires. True faith shifts focus from our circumstances to God’s unchanging character. Faith falters when we focus on the what instead of the who.

Faith rooted in who God is, not in ourselves or others, helps us trust God for what we cannot comprehend. Let us align our hearts with Mary’s response, looking beyond the natural and focusing on God’s supernatural ability. With the same wonder-filled, childlike faith, let’s submit to God's will, word, and way,  from glory to glory!
