The Joy of Giving

"So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver." – 2 Corinthians 9:7 NKJV
Giving should be a response to love, not a way to earn love. As children of God, we give our time, money, and talents to the Lord in response to who He is, not to receive things in return. We do not “do” things to “get” from Him; rather, we love Him because He first loved us.
Similarly, we give to others not based on what they have given us or in hopes of receiving something back. True appreciation can be expressed from the heart without being tied to a gift of equal value. The measure of someone’s love for us isn’t defined by material gifts, but by their sincerity and truth. Comparing gifts or giving with ulterior motives misses the point entirely.
When we give as we purpose in our hearts, it brings us joy and peace. Our giving flows not from obligation but from a place of love and grace. We look for opportunities to give because we know it is more blessed to give than to receive. It reflects the heart of our Heavenly Father. We are blessed to be a blessing—from glory to glory!
