Stay Focused on the Great Work

“...Come, let us meet together among the villages in the plain of Ono.” But they thought to do me harm. So I sent messengers... “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down.” – Nehemiah 6:2-3 NKJV

Reflection
Staying focused on our divine calling often requires saying no to even well-meaning invitations. Nehemiah recognized the danger in the distraction and responded with confidence in his calling. His refusal to come down from the wall teaches us the value of spiritual discernment. Distractions come in many forms, but our identity and direction in Christ help us remain steady.

Application As you consider your own path, reflect on distractions in your life.
Do not heed to the voices that lure you away from your purpose
Respond to opposition with conviction and determination
Set boundaries to protect your focus

Connection Thank You, Lord, for helping me discern distractions and stay focused on what You’ve called me to do. Strengthen me to remain steadfast and to keep my eyes on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
