Running to God, Not Away

But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. - John 6:68-69.
When it comes to dealing with conflict, running away is never the solution. Physically distancing ourselves doesn’t heal the wounds left by unresolved conflicts. We eventually discover that we cannot escape ourselves, so sooner or later, we have to confront our conflicts, no matter how long ago they occurred.
Unresolved issues from our past can impact our present. What we didn’t resolve then can “get over” us now, hindering us from moving forward and embracing fresh beginnings. Dwelling on past situations is a form of running away from present realities; it keeps us from fully engaging in the here and now.
In times of struggle, it’s essential to find a quiet place alone with God, where we can reflect by the Spirit rather than react in the flesh. In this solitude, we release our disappointments, frustrations, and anger to Him, finding rest in His presence as our refuge. We don’t run away from what we must face, nor do we run back to the past. We run to God, trusting that we can never run out of His love and grace, from glory to glory!
