In Hiding?
"Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying, ‘Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.’" – Luke 1:24-25 NKJV
Elizabeth hid herself during the first five months of her miraculous pregnancy. Only when her expectation became undeniable did she come out of hiding. Given her old age, she knew people might doubt God’s blessing and mock her if she shared too soon. The joy and excitement she felt were so profound, she couldn’t risk the growth of what God had begun.
There is a season between sowing and reaping when God keeps us hidden to protect the growth of what He has planted within us. Has God shown you part of His plan, and it hasn’t come to pass yet? Have you declared words of faith, yet nothing seems to show? During such times, we may feel invisible, ineffective, and wonder, “What is really happening?”
As we delight ourselves in the Lord, He plants desires within our hearts. In our excitement, we might share too soon. Let us seek the Lord’s timing and trust His process, for He watches over His word to perform it. We are pregnant with greatness! A season of revealing God’s wonderful works will surely come. Let us rest assured, and wait with faith, from glory to glory!
