The Flow of Living Water

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, 'If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.' - John 7:37-38

Experiencing the rivers of living water, the movement of the Holy Spirit within us, can be likened to an expectant mother feeling her baby’s first kicks. The mother's excitement intensifies with each kick, confirming the life she carries. Likewise, the stirrings of the Spirit within us confirm our salvation and His living presence in our hearts.

We learn to recognize and cherish His glorious flow. This spiritual 'kicking' becomes apparent when we sense things are finally moving; when what we carry feels the most alive. The Spirit leaps within at the sound of a scripture, a confirming word, during worship, or when opportunities open or close. Such witnessing in our spirit ignites rivers of excitement, birthing shouts of praise and elevating our faith to the tangible reality of His presence.

It also happens in times of struggle, when our flesh resists the Spirit, or when we face the enemy's fiercest attacks. It is during these trying moments that the Spirit moves the most to strengthen us. Battles become confirmation of the soon coming manifestation of what God's plans. Let’s trust in and follow His flow, from glory to glory!
