Watch Out For the Enemy’s Lies

And the woman said to the serpent, ‘We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die.’ - Gen. 3:2-4

Satan often distorts the truth by subtly changing, adding, or omitting a few words. When he deceived Eve, it wasn’t through obvious lies but through twisting God's command in a way that appealed to her flesh, her eyes, and her pride. His conniving nature is to lure people down a wrong path, making it seem attractive.

Temptations from the enemy can appear enticing, presenting wide avenues and many options. However, wide ways often lead to limited future possibilities, while narrow ways—the ways of God—can open doors to greater blessings. God's instructions to Eve were clear: death would result from eating from the forbidden tree. Though restrictive, His command was meant to protect her. Yet, the serpent tempted her with the lie that she would be like God, with no consequences for disobedience.

God’s Word is a lamp unto our feet, guiding us with truth. By reading, studying, memorizing, and meditating on Scripture, we strengthen our understanding of the truth, enabling us to recognize the enemy’s lies. We must continually pray for the Spirit of God to reveal deeper truths, keeping us humble, teachable, and on the right path,  from glory to glory!
