Discernment in Love and Prayer

“And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,” - Phil. 1:9

We’ve all experienced it: a sudden shift in the atmosphere, an unsettling feeling that something is off. Though we might not be able to pinpoint the cause, we sense the presence of spiritual disruption. In those moments, it’s crucial to pause and ask, “Holy Spirit, what are You showing me?” He will help us discern disturbances and guide us in how to pray effectively.

When the Spirit of God alerts us to something, it’s a call to action, not just observation. He empowers us to come against anything that hinders His work in Jesus’ name. Often, our obedience in these situations will be quiet and unseen, as He leads us in private prayer. There will be times when involving others is necessary, but He will make that clear. Even when we question what we are sensing, we can still pray in faith, trusting Him to guide us and reveal when the hindrances are removed.

Through discernment, we can intercede powerfully, bringing God’s light into dark situations. As we grow in love, knowledge, and discernment, we are equipped to protect and uplift others. In unity and vigilance, the possibilities of God’s work through us are limitless,  from glory to glory!
