The Power of "Nevertheless"

He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, ‘O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.’ - Mat. 26:39 NKJV
For God’s perfect will to manifest in our lives, we must surrender and submit our own will to His. The battle between the flesh and the spirit is often one of the most intense struggles we face. It’s a constant tug-of-war until we reach the pivotal moment of yielding. Once we experience victory in surrendering, subsequent battles with the flesh become easier to handle.
Aligning our will with God’s is vital for navigating the storms of life. Jesus was able to endure the cross because He had already triumphed in the Garden of Gethsemane. There, He agonized, expressing His desire for the cup to pass from Him, yet ultimately submitting to the Father’s will with the powerful word: “Nevertheless.”
Our victories are attained in the same way. We may not want to take certain steps, or we may desire to avoid specific paths, but the “nevertheless” attitude of surrender leads us to greater blessings. As we yield more to the Lord, His grace, peace, love, and perfect plan increasingly flow through our lives. “Nevertheless” doesn’t mean settling for less of God’s best; it means less of us for more of Him, from glory to glory!
