Feasting in Christ

"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over." – Psalm 23:5 NKJV

Through feasting on the abundance of riches we have in Christ, we find the strength to fast from what hinders our freedom. Our enemy may throw fiery darts to destroy our destiny, but God prepares for us the opposite—a table of blessings in the presence of our adversaries.

We feast on God’s peace when confusion comes. We feast on His love when rejection strikes. We feast on His truth when lies assail us. As we embrace all that we have in Christ, we naturally fast from all that comes from the enemy. In the natural, we might feast on drinking water to fast from sodas, healthy foods to fast from unhealthy ones, and good relationships to fast from those that may be hurtful.

Not only does feasting help the fasting, but fasting also strengthens the feasting. When we fast and overcome the desires of the flesh by God’s grace, we are able to fully partake of His abundance. In Christ, we feast and are satisfied. Hallelujah! Our spirit grows stronger in the Lord and in the power of His might. The reward of fasting is an even greater feast of the things of God. From fasting to feasting—from glory to glory!
