Who Am I?

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV).

Shame often attaches itself to our perceived flaws, whispering lies like ‘I don’t matter,’ ‘I’m not good enough,’ ‘worthless,’ ‘invisible,’ ‘awful,’ ‘useless,’ or ‘a mistake.’ Guilt zooms in on our actions, what we do or did, shame on our identity, who we are. But in Christ, we are new creations, deeply loved and wholly accepted — a stark contrast to any feelings of rejection. Embracing our new identity in the Lord, we break free from the chains of shame.

Before we were born again, we experienced shame without hope. Traumatic events in our lives increased our perception of unworthiness. Shame’s instinct is to make us hide or disappear, as exemplified by Adam and Eve after their sin. However, our true liberation comes when we find our hiding place in Christ. Safe and restored in Him, we walk free from the old; all things become new.

God completely forgave us through Christ and accepts us in the beloved. Righteous in Him, we no longer belong to our past. When those old, familiar shadows attempt to resurface, let us boldly walk forward as new, in the new,  from glory to glory!
