Does It Fit?

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10 KJV).

The Greek word for “hath before ordained” in this scripture is proetoimazō, meaning “to fit up in advance.” God has prepared specific works for us to walk in. They will fit who we are in Him perfectly and line up with his best for our lives. There is both excitement and restlessness in realizing the Lord stretches us to fit the places we are about to occupy.

We can relate to what it feels like to break into new shoes. At first, they’re not comfortable and we get sore spots. It takes time to get used to walking in them, and during that period, we might miss the old shoes and consider using them again. When that period is over, the new shoes fit perfectly, like they were tailor made for us. As God’s workmanship, we can trust what He sees fit.

If you are in a transition, focus on the new by faith, relying on God to bring it to pass. Spend time in His Word and worship, resting in Him. Be quick to let go of what no longer fits or to adjust to new ways to fit into it. Praise God ahead of time for what He has for you. God often must shift situations and relationships to help us step into the new. Let’s see the process as a glorious transformation,  from glory to glory!
