The Overflow of God's Love
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. - Romans 5:5 NKJV
The Holy Spirit pours out the love of God in our hearts the moment we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. He dwells in us. God loves us and gives us His love to share with others. His love is overflowing. We shouldn't question whether we deserve it, or if it will ever leave. We simply believe in its reality. Knowing we have the love of God enables us to pray for its outflowing unto others.
We can walk in love with others even when they don’t return it because it is His love that we pour out, not the love we try to manufacture apart from Him. They will know the reality of God’s love by the way they see us express it through our words and behaviors. Love prays for our enemies, hate preys on them, and seeks to harm.
Love brings compassion and mercy. It is one of the mighty weapons we have in God and it disarms the weapons of our adversary. Love protects us from the pain of rejection and changes our despair into hope. Love also gives peace, joy, and hope that never disappoints. Nothing can ever separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus from glory to glory!
