Walk Free From Control

“Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’” - 1 Peter 5:5.
How do we handle control when it turns abusive? Abusive control often comes from a person’s insecurities and fear of failure, which can damage relationships and create distrust and fear. By harshly dictating how things should be done, they assume they’re preventing unwanted surprises and keeping hardship at bay. They cling to their way, believing it’s the best—or only—way.
Freedom comes as we surrender to the Lord, entrusting Him with all control. This step releases us from oppressive control and the fear it brings. As we yield to God’s authority, we find healing from the pain inflicted by others. He strengthens us to forgive, establish healthy boundaries, and trust His grace to handle whatever arises. When others refuse to respect these boundaries, we seek God’s guidance, praying for wisdom and trusting His power.
In Christ, we discover true safety and restoration. The Holy Spirit reveals areas that need healing, bringing transformation to our hearts. Under His influence, we learn to respect healthy authority while walking free from oppression, leaving the rest in God’s capable hands. Trusting in His guidance, we walk free from control when it's abusive, empowered by His love, from glory to glory!
