Yield to the Sovereignty of Christ

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. - Rom. 12:1-2
We present our bodies as living sacrifices to the Lord because He is not just our Savior, but our King. He has the right to reign over our lives. The Holy Spirit guides us to willingly cooperate with God’s sovereignty by refusing the rule of self and choosing to submit to Christ. To yield is to give up control and allow Him to lead.
Yielding is like merging onto a freeway. As we merge, we decrease our speed gradually, making room for other vehicles to pass us while we maintain our forward motion. We don’t stop; we yield. Similarly, we give the Lord the right of way, staying in motion while watching for His guidance. We pay attention to His direction, ensuring nothing comes between us and Him. When He moves, we step aside, relinquishing control.
Trusting Him completely means getting out of His way and letting Him lead. We follow others as they follow Christ, but we do not let anyone control us if their will conflicts with God’s. By surrendering to His way, we find that His plans are always best, leading us, from glory to glory!
