Shake off the Enemy's Attacks

But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm. - Acts 28:3-5
When a viper latched onto Paul’s hand, those around him expected him to die, assuming he must have done something evil to deserve such a fate. But Paul didn’t focus on their judgments or on himself. With holy boldness, he simply shook the viper off into the fire and suffered no harm. Let's shake off the enemy's attacks. Hallelujah!
In our own lives, when we go through trials, others might wonder if we’ve done something wrong and are being punished by God. But it’s not God who brings evil; it’s the enemy who battles us when we’re living for Jesus. God uses His Spirit to discipline, change, heal, and touch us—always working through love, joy, peace, and gentleness. He doesn’t bring harm; He destroys its impact and brings life.
When the fire of the Holy Spirit is upon us and moves through us to touch a hurting world, the enemy will try to hinder our work. In those moments, we can’t afford to reason or hesitate. When the enemy suddenly strikes, we must quickly shake him off and move forward. What is not of God may try to take hold of us, but it cannot prevail. We shake it off and suffer no harm, from glory to glory!
